Hi, I'm Lisa and I'm a Hoarder

My friend and fellow Washingtonian Shely at Bungalow Bling is having a fun little party:
Hoarders and Crafts gone wrong
Now my husband would say that I hoard:
ah, well, maybe I do
But what I really found interesting is that I hoard COSTUMES! When I left California I sold over $200. of my costumes at a garage sale.... but I still seem to have costumes coming out of all my closets!!
In the guest bedroom I have all these hanging up... and hat boxes too... but I can explain each costume: Wonderwoman's cape, a beautiful gold jacket I picked up JUST LAST WEEK (hoarder) for $3.00, Maleficent's black cape, Mr. Produce's letterman jacket and just look at all those hat boxes filled with .... um hats!
Then there are the bags of costumes, like all the pink ballet items that my girls used when they were 8 &6 (now 26&24)... but you never know when you are going to need dance outfits!!! for grandchildren???
Then the other side of the closet: Old prom dresses, Pioneer dresses, Hello Dolly Dresses, Bride dresses, Renaissance dresses... and then there are the drawers full of hats, wigs, glasses, jewelry, feathers, furs, scarves, ties, gloves, makeup,

Yummy wigs and glasses
Then, if you will look WAYYY up high by the sword... it is a FULL unicorn costume. oh come on how could I give THAT up??
In another bedroom I have more hats, MEN's hats
I also have a BIG box of dress up clothes for the 'grandkids'. chock to the brim with fun aprons and dresses and bride veils and fun jewelry!!!
Out in the garage we have... MORE
everything from big bird.. to little girl costumes to period pieces to old prom dresses to funky 60's & 70 stuff.
even a coat MY nana made me when i was a little girl
(little known fact, I did not have a store bought dress until I was 12, my nana made ALL my clothes AND coats).
I mean look at these goodies: a 50's inspired pink and black dress, 50's black lace dress, and fun 70's skirts and a beautiful 'winged' 60's dress.
and all sorts of yummy crinoline skirts
Let us not forget the shoes:
a suitcase full of shoes and boots!! red Wonderwoman boots and 1900 shoes and short boots.

Yes indee-die- I'm Lisa, and I am an ORGANIZED hoarder.

Food Fun Friday-Ritz Chicken

This was a pretty simple meal but tasted pretty good. I give it a B+
You could even do without the butter. Mr, Produce likes a good sauce and this was just ok...but high on the easy and quick side.
I'll make it again but maybe with a different sauce.
(obviously you can tell by the picture I only made two chicken breasts- cut the recipe in half) Serves 5-6

Ingredients:
5 chicken breasts
2 cups Ritz crackers-crushed
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 cup plain yogurt
1/4 cup melted butter
Crush the crackers in a food processor, or put in a zip lock bag and crush them. Then add Parmesan cheese and garlic salt. Dip the chicken into the yogurt and then into the cracker mix. Place on a baking sheet. Then drizzle the melted butter over the chicken. Bake at 350 for about 30-40 minutes until chicken is fully cooked.

For the sauce:
1 can cream of chicken soup
1/2 cup sour cream
1 teaspoon lemon juice
Heat on the stove top on low heat for about 15 minutes. Serve over chicken.

Who do I channel?

I still don't have my computer back and am stuck with this laptop that just doesn't fit my fingers...
And still not feeling up to par, I was having trouble sleeping and though about ..my younger years.
I was thinking about who I was, and who I wanted to be..

I can remember the first person that I really truly wanted to be was, a Mouseketeer- I though that they should really let me on the Micky Mouse club.
I used to believe that I would grow up to be Julie Andrews. I would tell people that I wanted to be Julie Andrews... especially the Julie Andrews in the movie Hawaii.
In Jr. High I thought I would be another Barbra Streisand. (didn't every 14 yr old girl??)
When I went to college, I though I could be an entertainer like Donny and Marie, yes I wanted to be both, you know I'm a little bit country AND rock n roll! I saw them in person once at Baskin Robbins. She was so skinny it was weird! Skinny and big hair! ha
After I got married all I really wanted to be was a mother, and FINALLY after 7 years that oppertunity arrived. Frankly I didn't have time to think about who I wanted to be, I just was.......

A little bit further on in life, I LOVED all things creative..oh wait I still do! I loved Martha in the semi-early days. Her crafts weren't so commercial and you could actually make most of them on your own... without buying out the store.

Then in my 40's I though I wanted to be Sherri L. Dew, and be inspirational and Witty with tons of wisdom and entertain people with my deep insight.... until I realized that I really don't have anything deep to say.
And now in my... (well you know what comes after 40)
I am content in just being me, I mean I don't have any other choice, because I am just me.
I love being a mom, I am starting to know what it feels like being a grandmother. I love being a wife and traveling through our life together experiencing all sorts of interesting experiences.
ok, so SPILL IT... who did you want to be?
who really made you sit up and take notice of what you could become?
I want to hear all the good bad and strange.
come on you know you want to get it off your chest.

There are always surprises in the yard

As I am watering the back yard, I see strange seedlings in my small hydrangea pot? what?????
Then there are the same strange little seedlings in my recently re potted tree (seedlings that are being eaten by something)
WAIT.. there are more of these seedlings in the ground by the fence... and I know that they are sunflower seedlings... but I didn't plant these????
OR these in this pot! ! !
What is going on!!!
ohhhhhh I know.... sneaky chipmunk has been hanging around the neighborhood, and after talking to my neighbor, she confirmed that the chipmunk has been visiting ANOTHER neighbors bird feeder... so I brilliantly put 2 and 2 together and am now getting SUNFLOWERS!!! although if they are to survive I will have to re plant them somewhere else!
and for some lovely TMI (don't SAY YOU WEREN'T WARNED)
We made the 3 hour drive to see Mr. Produce's mother again. She is exactly 90 and one month! I didn't think she could be more frail, but she is. She was happy to see us but after 20 minutes started saying good-by because she was tired.
AND in other related TMI news, I got very sick on the way home, guess it must be food poison because... well you all know how food poison effects you, and boy did it effect me!!!! All afternoon AND night.

Is it raining where you are?

On a gloomy rainy morning, it came little 8 year old Tommy's turn to say the blessing at breakfast.

"We thank Thee for this beautiful day" he prayed.

His mother asked him why he said that when the day was anything but beautiful.

"Mother", he said with rare wisdom, "Never judge a day by its weather".
