chocolate chip cookies as a FAIL

yum right?
So I had some people coming over and I thought:
"hey, Lauren just made some cookies that looked really good.. I don't like oreo's so I know that these are the cookies I should make because I won't like them so I won't be tempted to eat them.  She said they were so so good"
With such rave reviews... what did I have to lose.
She found the recipe here:  the picky palate
...basically it is an oreo cookie covered in a giant chocolate chip cookie:

and this is how they looked on Lauren's blog:
and after I made mine.. here's how they looked:
they really flattened out and sometimes the cookie didn't really cover the oreo...
I will label this as   fail
they tasted ok, (oh come on did you REALLY think after 4 months of no cookies I could pass these up?)
But no, I don't think I will be making these again!
oh yeah, and I'll be taking them to work because fishermen will eat anything!

oh my goodness-- thats so weird!! mine turned out like bakery perfect cookies. SO good and delicious and PERFECT!! WEIRD! Did you wrap the dough around them properly?? where you sealed it evenly all the way around??
hope they still tasted good

It could be the moist air up there that didn't allow them do rise correctly. At least the realitors liked them :)

they are my list to try from when i was talking to lauren about them last week. i LOVE oreos and i like choc chip cookies. i'd rather eat cheesecake with peanut on or in it, so maybe i'll need to make a cheesecake pb cookie with an oreo in the middle...yeah, that sounds really good:)

Looks like you have the same kind of luck baking cookies that I do. I have trouble making a plain ole pancake sometimes. :) I bet if one likes Oreos and chocolate chip cookies though they wouldn't care what they looked like they would just swoof them right down. Hugs

I always wonder why cookies are not as puffy as they should be sometimes - it happens here too. Humidity? Butter? Flour content? Oven heat? Elevation? I have yet to figure it out.
I think overall it looks like a yummy cookie!

I just read about your migraines - Sooo sorry sounds painful. Ick!

I love the look of your blog :-D

I wondered how they tasted. I've seen these on someone's blog before and thought how ingenious.

I can't make a chocolate chip cookie to save my soul.
