Thursdays I'm going to let you in on my Pinterest Highlights and Bombs!
Last weekend Mr. Produce wanted me to make him a Rhubarb pie for his birthday. (more about that tomorrow).
Bottom line (pun intended) the pie was juicy and spilled ALL OVER THE OVEN.
What A Mess!!
Pinterest said that if you use baking soda and white vinegar, you can clean the oven in a snap!
After my first initial trial of trying to scrape it off... I realized that I needed a better solution.
before:
I sprinkled baking soda all over the bottom of the oven(especially where it was crusty), then poured white vinegar over the mess, and let bubble for a while. I left it on for about 5 hours (suggested time is overnight). Then I wiped and scrubbed it off.
I got most all of the crusty stuff.. (except in the upper left corner), I'll have to do it over for that area. The front area is what was there to begin with, not crusty at all but a greasy baked on mess that I did NOT put very much baking soda on!
All in all it did a pretty good job. It took elbow grease but all the crusty baked on 'pie' goodness was gone!
I give it a thumbs up, and a pass. I just think I have to work harder at getting the back area cleaned up.

What a mess, right? But oh, those rhubarb pies must be soooo worth it!

Oh my oven SOOO needs to be scrubbed right now. Least. Favorite. Task. I will clean the bathroom five times over before willingly cleaning the oven and/or fridge. Oy!
