Craft-o-Mania Day 5
I have wanted a banner for some time... but .. of course been putting it off. So with trying to get ALL my Easter crafts done in one weekend....
I went for a square banner.
I bought a pkg of precut charms in some great SpringTime colors.I found a font I liked (with round edges) and blew it up to about 400% and printed them out.
Besides the precut 'charms', you will need a square of felt for the back, and a felt piece to match the lettering. Layer the Square felt, 'charm' , felt scrap and paper letter.
sew around the edge of the letter
tear away the paper
cut off the excess scrap felt fabric
carefully cutting the 'innards'
another picture of tearing the paper
using your zig zag scissors cut the felt backing evenly (no picture-sorry)
sew all the pieces in order with seam binding.... and....
Viola... you have a snazzy Easter Banner
Isn't it lovely?
And do you like my Mother Bunny??? I made her MANY years ago... I just love all her little bunnies in her pockets!!!
ah, brings back fond memories... using this to decorate year after year.
Craft-O-Mania Day 4
Aren't these just the cutest -EVER. My mom got these as a gift (yeah pretty ironic since her teeth are all falling out and she finally got dentures..) but I thought I could make these for fun Easter gift.
So here are all the items you need. (oh and I forgot the movie to stick in the TV to watch while making them).
Cut out a template of the face (for over front of the floss), and ears.
and cut out ears, glue them together... and Here You Go!

Food Fun Friday- Honey Lime Chicken Enchiladas
This treat got a BIG thumbs up from Mr. Produce
HONEY LIME CHICKEN ENCHILADAS
yum yum
and as I've learned the only way to get really good shredded chicken is to cook it in the crockpot-
That tips free.

Bloggville- We are That Family
I am always finding GREAT blogs. So much interesting information, beautiful pictures, great ideas, mouth watering foods.....
and then I came upon this... Kristin's blog:
I had run across her blog before and she had great ideas etc.
But now, after returning from a Compasion International trip to Africa... wow
I feel more than guilt for such an easy life, accessible food, clean water and abundance. I feel aware. The blinders are gone. I can't pretend I don't know how the poorest of the poor live. I can't act like there aren't children who go to bed hungry. I can't ignore that 30,000 children die each day from preventable causes.
I read further about her trip--- and cried as she cried at the worst.. worst doesn't even begin to describe it... She labels her post: Today I went to hell
My Mouth is open in ..sorrow.......

craft class help with table decorations out of Sheet Music
First, as you know because I've taken so many pictures of them, I have been over-the-top making flowers lately.
I came across a great blog from Suzanne, and she offers to send you a PATTERN to make the flowers.... Thanks Suzanne from Just another hang up ...here
well I emailed her and she emailed me back the pattern and it was GREAT... so I used her pattern to make these sheet music Flowers.. (that's her pattern in the bright white)
I just traced and cut them out of the music. (I did use all 6 pieces of the pattern)
on each 'petal' I folded them diagonally and then again:
I piled them on top of each other, in order, and stuck a thick needle through the center. That made enough room for the brad to stick through. After that I crumpled them up a little bit more... very artistically!
I didn't really like the look of the gold brad, so I glued a black button on top of the brad.
We made a ton of them... so for each table I put old sheet music down the center and then 'litterd' the table with music flowers. Every once in a while I did use a burlap bow.
cool huh?
Have I mentioned that we have a TON (3/4) of seniors at church so I thought they would get a kick out of all the old music and old actors on the covers.......
and I even found an old sheet music with Rudy Vallie's autograph
ok that Lime green table cloth has GOT TO GO.
and when its plastic... do you still call it a table 'cloth'?
Food Fun Friday-Granola Walnut and Chocolate Chip Cookies
http://www.allthingsheartandhome.com/2010/02/25/granola-cookies/
Granola Walnut and Chocolate Chip Cookies
but first let me say that I made the recipe just as written (without the chocolate chips) ... then this week I made it a little more healthier trading out certain things. So I'll write in black what I changed this week. (and like I said NO chocolate chips)
1/2 Cup All Purpose Flour
1/2 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
1C Whole Wheat Flour (only)
1/4 cup Flax Seed (Milled)*(you can leave this out and not change anything else)
1/2 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 Stick Butter (softened, I used salted )1tbl butter and 1/2C applesauce
1/3 Cup packed Brown Sugar 1/3 C loose brown sugar
1/3 Cup Granulated Sugar none
1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
1 Large Egg 1/4C egg beaters
3/4 Cup chopped-roasted walnuts
1 1/3 Cup Granola~ like Bare Naked Granola~Break up any clumps …
I used the crockpot homemade granola I love (here it is)
3/4 Cup Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips none
Preheat oven 375*
Roast walnuts for 4 – 5 minutes. Be careful not to burn them. (Don’t skip this step it adds a scrumptious depth of flavor)
Whisk flour, Flax Seed, baking soda.
Beat together butter, sugars and vanilla on high until fluffy. (May take a few minutes)
Beat in egg until combined well. Add flour mixture. Stir in granola, chocolate chips and walnuts.
Drop about 18 rounds, 2 Tablespoons each onto parchment cover cookie sheet. Pat down each mound into a 2 1/2 inch round.
Bake cookies for about 12- 13 minutes
my recipe makes them a little dry, so quickly put them in a zip lock to secure their moisture. (the next day they are still moist) ...
Think next time I'll try pecans... (and just how do you pronounce Pee-Can'-s)
