Bloggville- We are That Family

I am always finding GREAT blogs. So much interesting information, beautiful pictures, great ideas, mouth watering foods.....
and then I came upon this... Kristin's blog:

I had run across her blog before and she had great ideas etc.
But now, after returning from a Compasion International trip to Africa... wow

It's a startling realization to not recognize yourself: My own voice sounds hollow. My eyes hold a distant stare, remembering all I've seen in Africa this past week. My thoughts keep me awake at night....

I feel more than guilt for such an easy life, accessible food, clean water and abundance. I feel aware. The blinders are gone. I can't pretend I don't know how the poorest of the poor live. I can't act like there aren't children who go to bed hungry. I can't ignore that 30,000 children die each day from preventable causes.

I read further about her trip--- and cried as she cried at the worst.. worst doesn't even begin to describe it... She labels her post: Today I went to hell

My Mouth is open in ..sorrow.......

Thanks for sharing, Lisa. Makes me feel a little guilty for posting all about my "fluffy" life!

I'm glad you shared that. It was pretty humbling and another reminder of several I've received recently that I need to extend my reach as far as service goes.

Thanks, Lisa.

Thank you for this moving post. My sister once did some mission work in Sri Lanka, a very poor, impoverished country. When she returned home to America, she told me about walking into the grocery store. She said, there she was in the middle of this enormous place with shelf after shelf of food, and she burst into tears! We all need to be reminded how lucky we are, and how essential the need is to help others.

I just wanted to drop by and thank you for visiting and following my blog. I really, really appreciate it! I'm following you now, too. Cheers!

I like her blog too! It is good to know of things going on in the world. It makes our problems seem so small in comparison!
